Washed concrete surfaces encompasses several different types of aspects of Ready Mixed Concrete. Exposed aggregate is a type of washed finish in which the contractor exposes the rock underneath the surface or seeds the surface with an imported rock.
Another type of washed finish is where you lightly expose the sand particles by either washing the surface with water later in the finishing process or using an acid the next day. The most common and highest quality method is to use a surface retardant such as Top-Cast which we offer delivery to our customers when they place each order for concrete delivery.
Why Aggregate Washed Concrete?
Aggregate washed concrete is a great alternative to traditional concrete because it doesn’t require chemicals or special tools. Decorative aggregate is mixed into the concrete during batching. Once the concrete has reached a sufficient stiffness, the surface is washed away to reveal the decorative aggregate. Aggregate washed concrete is a popular choice for patios, driveways and other paved areas because it tends not to show stains and marks in high traffic areas, maintaining a natural stone appearance.
